Tudor Prince Date Chronograph “Chrono-Time” Ref. 79280, Stainless Steel, White Dial with Black Subdials, 2001, Box and Papers
For decades, Tudor was Rolex’s sister brand, created by Hans Wilsdorf to offer Rolex quality at a more accessible price. Tudor watches used Rolex cases, crowns and bracelets, combined with proven movements from outside suppliers. The Prince Date Chronograph, often called the “Chrono-Time”, is one of the finest examples of this idea. It looks and feels like a Rolex sports watch, and it has become a sought-after modern classic among collectors.
The 40 mm Oyster case is made of stainless steel and carries the familiar Rolex style, with a screw-down crown and screw-down pushers. The steel bezel is engraved with a tachymeter scale for measuring speed. The watch has a solid, well-made feel that reflects its close connection to Rolex.
The white dial with three black subdials creates the high-contrast “panda” look that collectors love on a chronograph. The applied markers, luminous hands and date window at 3 o’clock complete the sporty, highly legible layout. It is a dial that looks just as good today as it did more than twenty years ago.
Inside works the self-winding Valjoux 7750, one of the most robust and widely respected chronograph movements in watchmaking. It is known for its reliability and easy maintenance, which makes the watch as practical as it is attractive.
This Tudor is worn on its original steel bracelet with folding clasp - all links come with the bracelet!
The watch dates from 2001 and is in very good condition. It comes with box and papers plus description booklet.
"A neo-vintage chronograph with true Rolex DNA, and clearly one of the best-value modern chrono-classics for collectors!"
Comes with a one-year warranty through our watch lab.
