The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona (Ref. 116500LN) is a corner stone of modern sports watch collecting, but this 2019 "Darth Vader" black-dial edition carries a rare provenance. Officially commissioned as a royal delivery for the Sultanate of Oman under the reign of Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said, the timepiece was issued directly via the state’s official royal retailer.
The primary distinction of this special-order piece is found on the solid stainless steel caseback, which features the official Omani Khanjar emblem engraved directly by Rolex at the factory. This royal insignia is also present on the outer presentation packaging, documenting its delivery status. The watch maintains the familiar architecture of the reference, pairing a 40mm Oystersteel case with a black Cerachrom ceramic tachymeter bezel and a deep glossy black dial.
Internally, the watch is driven by the caliber 4130 automatic chronograph movement, known for its vertical clutch architecture and 72-hour power reserve. Preserved as a complete 2019 set with its original box and papers bearing the royal Omani markings, this specific Daytona represents a notable crossover between modern ceramic-bezel production and historic Middle Eastern royal commissions.
