VACHERON CONSTANTIN Perpetual Calendar, Reference 43031, 950 Platinum, Leather Strap, VC Service 09/2026, Cult Watch of the 1990s, Very Rare

First launched in 1984, the 43031 arrived at a pivotal moment for Vacheron Constantin, one of the few ultra-thin automatic perpetual calendars introduced in the years following the quartz crisis, and a watch that helped rekindle genuine interest in complicated mechanical watchmaking.

The platinum case measures a compact 36mm and under 8mm thick, with a stepped bezel and straight lugs that echo the manufacture's vintage pocket watch heritage, four corner pushers set flush into the case for adjusting the calendar, and a Maltese Cross, Vacheron's own emblem, engraved into the crown.

The pared-back opaline dial keeps day and date at three and nine o'clock, month and leap year at twelve, and a moon phase at six with a genuine Lapis Lazuli moon disc on early first series examples, a small but poetic detail that sets this reference apart from its contemporaries.

Inside runs the caliber 1120/2, derived from the legendary Jaeger-LeCoultre 920, one of the thinnest automatic movements ever produced and jointly developed with Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe, running here on a full diameter rotor and beryllium rail for exceptional stability.
