We are proud to offer this exceptionally rare and historically important Vacheron Constantin 222 Automatic, reference 46003, in solid 18k yellow gold, featuring the elusive black dial — made and placed exclusively for this watch by Vacheron Constantin on request by the former owner.

Originally delivered in 1981, this watch is accompanied by a Vacheron Constantin Extract from the Archives, confirming its production and sale date. With its sharp lines, integrated bracelet, and minimalist design, the 222 stands as with of the most iconic sports-luxury watches of the 20th century — designed by the young Jörg Hysek and released to mark Vacheron Constantin’s 222nd anniversary.

This particular example is the 34mm automatic version, often referred to as the “mid-size,” though it wears elegantly on both smaller and medium wrists due to the integrated bracelet design and full gold presence.

The watch underwent a restoration service at Vacheron Constantin in June 2026; during the service, the luminous material on the hands and dial was replaced with Super-LumiNova.

The condition of this piece is truly remarkable, with sharp bevels, clean brushing, and a tight bracelet — rarely seen on full gold 222s. The dial is free from blemishes or spotting.
