ROLEX SUBMARINER “BIG CROWN” JAMES BOND Ref. 5510 - Stainless Steel – Radium Dial – Brevet Crown – Circa 1958 – Rare Early Caliber 1530

We are very proud to offer this excellent Rolex vintage Submariner in stainless teel with a stainless steel rivet Oyster bracelet.

This is an extremely rare and historically significant vintage Rolex Submariner Ref. 5510 “Big Crown”, presented in very good and authentic condition throughout, and fitted to a later Rolex Oyster bracelet dated 7/1970.

Manufactured in 1958, the Reference 5510 represents the final iteration of the legendary Big Crown Submariners, and is considered one of the most iconic Rolex dive watches ever produced. Manufactured for only a brief period between 1958 and 1959, the 5510 was the direct successor to the famed Ref. 6538—famously worn by Sean Connery in his early James Bond films—and is thus often referred to by collectors as the “James Bond Submariner.”

This example features all of the hallmark traits collectors seek:

- Oversized 8mm BREVET crown

- Authentic radium dial, hands, and bezel insert

- Rare early Caliber 1530 “Butterfly” movement, first introduced with this reference

The Serial number of this pieces is remarkably close (13 numbers apart) to a Royal Navy-issued 5510 auctioned by Bonhams in 2009, sharing identical military-style radium specifications!

It is widely believed that fewer than 300 examples of the Ref. 5510 were ever produced, making it one of the rarest and most coveted vintage Submariners in existence.
