Our remarks

ROLEX SUBMARINER DATE – Ref. 1680

A Highly Collectible Stainless Steel Submariner from 1980 with Original Papers, Anchor, and Patinated Tritium Dial

We are pleased to offer this very good example of the iconic Rolex Submariner Date in stainless steel with a steel Oyster bracelet.

This pieces comes from the final year of production( 1980) for this legendary reference.

The Ref.1680 is accompanied by:

- Original Rolex warranty papers (dated 1980)

- Plastic Rolex guarantee card holder

- Original steel Rolex anchor

- one year of warranty through our watch lab.

The watch features a well-preserved matte black tritium dial with beautifully aged lume plots and matching hands, now showing a warm, creamy patina. This desirable dial variation—sometimes referred to as the “White Submariner”—carries the classic white text and the “SWISS – T < 25” marking below 6 o’clock, correct for this late production year.

The 40mm stainless steel Oyster case remains in strong condition, with well-defined lugs and sharp bevels, while the rotating bezel and black insert are period-correct, showing light wear consistent with careful use.

Powered by the automatic Chronometer Rolex Calibre 1575.

As one of the last 1680s ever produced, this example holds special importance for collectors—marking the end of the vintage Submariner era before the transition to the ref. 16800.

A classic vintage Rolex divers watch with full character, original documentation, and essential period accessories.
