ROLEX Vintage GMT-Master PEPSI - Ref. 1675 - Mark V Dial - Box & Papers - Manufactured 1973 - Sold 1976 Germany - In-house Service 2026 - Excellent
The Rolex GMT-Master Ref. 1675 is one of the most iconic sports watches ever produced and a cornerstone of vintage Rolex collecting. Introduced in 1959 as the successor to the original GMT-Master Ref. 6542, the 1675 remained in production for over two decades until 1980, becoming one of the longest-running and most recognizable references in Rolex history.
The GMT-Master was originally developed in collaboration with Pan American World Airways (Pan Am) to meet the needs of long-haul airline pilots during the dawn of the jet age. Its innovative 24-hour hand working in conjunction with the rotating 24-hour bezel enabled pilots to read two time zones simultaneously, a groundbreaking feature at the time. Over the decades, the GMT-Master evolved from a professional aviation instrument into one of Rolex's most celebrated sports watches, admired for its functionality, distinctive design, and enduring collectability.
This outstanding example, Reference 1675, was manufactured in 1973 and features the legendary red and blue "Pepsi" bezel, one of the most recognizable designs in watchmaking. The watch is fitted with a desirable Mark V matte tritium dial, complete with its original tritium hands. The beautifully aged luminous material has developed the warm character and authenticity that collectors seek in well-preserved vintage Rolex sports models.
The watch is accompanied by a later-generation Rolex Oyster bracelet, correctly fitted with a U10 clasp code, offering excellent comfort and durability while complementing the watch's classic tool-watch aesthetic.
Originally sold in Germany in 1976, this GMT-Master is offered as a highly desirable full set, complete with its original Rolex box and papers. It has recently undergone a comprehensive in-house service in 2026, ensuring reliable performance while preserving the originality that makes vintage Rolex references so appealing.
Presented in excellent overall condition, the watch retains crisp case proportions, an attractive matte dial, well-preserved tritium hands, and a beautiful overall appearance befitting a carefully maintained collector's example. The combination of its desirable Mark V dial, documented German provenance, original accessories, and excellent state of preservation makes this Ref. 1675 an exceptional opportunity for both seasoned collectors and enthusiasts entering the world of vintage Rolex.
