We are privileged to present an exceptional and exceedingly rare example of the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona “Paul Newman,” Reference 6241, cased in solid 18k yellow gold and fitted with its original matching 18k yellow gold Oyster riveted bracelet.

A pinnacle of mid-century watch design and an enduring symbol of motorsport chronography, the Reference 6241 occupies a place of prestige among vintage Rolex collectors. Produced for a remarkably short period between 1966 and 1969, this reference is estimated to have seen a total production of approximately 2,700 pieces—of which a mere 300 were believed to be delivered in 18k yellow gold.

This particular example is distinguished by its stunning and perfectly preserved “Exotic” dial—known universally today as the “Paul Newman.” With its striking black and yellow tritium colorway, contrasting subsidiary registers, and Art Deco-style font, the dial is a visual masterpiece, elevated further by the black acrylic bezel engraved with a tachymetric scale. Powering this timepiece is the venerable hand-wound Valjoux 722-1 chronograph movement, housed within a 37.5mm case featuring pump pushers and a screw-down crown. Completing the watch is its original 18k yellow gold riveted Oyster bracelet, stamped with clasp code “K6,” dating to June 1986—a rare period-correct bracelet that complements the head impeccably.
