Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date Ref. 6624, 30 mm, 18k Yellow Gold, Hexagonal Hour Markers, 1967, Box, Papers, COSC Certificate
The reference 6624 is one of those vintage Rolex watches that quietly win people over. With its 30 mm case it sits between the classic ladies' and men's sizes, which makes it wonderfully versatile today. It is elegant on a slim wrist and understated on a larger one. This example has something that makes it truly special: hexagonal hour markers, a dial detail you rarely see on this reference.
The Oyster case is made of 18 karat yellow gold and closed with a screw-down crown, just like its bigger siblings. The domed acrylic crystal gives the watch that soft, warm vintage look you only get from watches of this era. The matching 18k gold Oyster bracelet makes it a complete gold watch.
The silver dial carries the rare applied hexagonal hour markers, which catch the light from different angles and give the dial a lively, almost jewel-like character. Below the Rolex signature you'll find the chronometer inscription, which confirms the officially tested movement inside. Together with the date window at 3 o'clock and the central seconds, it is a classic Rolex layout with a very individual touch.
Inside works a self-winding Rolex chronometer movement 1130. The watch was officially tested for precision, as confirmed by the chronometer certificate that comes with it.
The watch dates from 1968, however made in 1967 and is in excellent condition. It comes with box, two papers and its original chronometer certificate and the plastic card holder
