ROLEX GMT-Master "Pepsi", Reference 16750, Transitional, Stainless Steel, Tritium Spider Dial, Box and Papers, Year 1984, Full Set, Excellent Condition
This 16750 sits right at the hinge point of GMT-Master history, the reference that took everything collectors loved about the original 1675 and quietly modernized it, without ever losing the DNA that made the model famous in the first place.
The stainless steel case measures 40mm, still carrying the thick, evenly proportioned lugs of the earlier references, and inside runs the automatic caliber 3075, the update that finally gave the GMT-Master a quickset date, a genuinely useful improvement that makes this transitional reference just as easy to live with today as it was in the 1980s.
What sets this particular piece apart is its bezel, a striking red and blue Pepsi insert that has kept its color beautifully, still showing that vivid two tone contrast rather than the faded or ghosted look so many examples develop after four decades. The black Spider dial carries its original tritium plots, surrounded by 18k white gold circles, that have aged into a warm, even beige patina along with the matching hands, exactly the kind of honest, untouched aging collectors look for rather than a dial that has been relumed or restored.
As a transitional reference, this 16750 also marks the first watch in the lineage to carry over the glossy dial, different to the 1675 Rolex black matt Tiritum dials dials, giving it its own distinct place in the GMT-Master story rather than being just a stepping stone between two more famous references.
