The ref. 16528 represents one of the most important transitions in Rolex Daytona history — the first self-winding Daytona, introduced in 1988 and powered by the legendary Zenith El Primero-based Caliber 4030. These early automatic Daytonas are now considered modern classics, bridging vintage aesthetics and performance with the current ones.
The black tritium dial remains in excellent condition, with no damage or spotting, and beautifully aged luminous plots that glow warmly under light. The iconic “inverted 6” at the 6 o’clock subdial (mistakenly printed as a 9 due to dial orientation) is a signature trait of early production runs and a key detail for serious collectors.
The 18k yellow gold Oyster case and bracelet are in exceptional condition, retaining strong definition and crisp lines, showing only minimal signs of careful wear. The caseback and end links are properly stamped, and the bracelet shows minimal stretch.
Offered as a complete full set, including the original box, punched papers, and booklets, this is an outstanding example of one of the most collectible Rolex Daytonas from the Zenith era.
„We defenitly love this early and most beautiful El Primero Daytonas for their vintage aesthetics!"
