PIAGET Vintage Polo Day-Date

First introduced in 1980, the Piaget Polo quickly became a symbol of sporty elegance and refined luxury. The name “Polo” reflects Piaget’s involvement in the sport, especially through its sponsorship of the Polo World Cup in Palm Beach that was the namegiving event.

The present watch is a rare Day-Date version, featuring a 32 mm case crafted from solid 18k yellow gold. The case and bracelet are seamlessly integrated and display the signature horizontal ridged pattern, which continues across the champagne dial to create a unified and striking design.

Unlike the original two-hand model, this version includes a central seconds hand, a date display at 12 o’clock, and a German-language day display at the lower half of the dial. The faceted dauphine hands enhance the clean and elegant look. Notably, the dial does not bear the typical “Quartz” inscription, a subtle detail appreciated by collectors.

With a weight of nearly 130 grams in solid gold, the watch has a bold and substantial presence on the wrist—capturing the spirit of the 1980s in both design and character. Piaget’s decision to reintroduce the Polo in 2024 highlights the lasting significance of this model within the brand’s history.
