Unveiled at Baselworld 2019 after five years of development and four separate patent applications, the 5520P added something genuinely new to Patek's Travel Time concept, a mechanical alarm, striking a classic gong through an entirely new integrated movement built specifically for this reference.

The 42.2mm platinum case carries a bold, symmetrical arrangement of four crowns and pushers, adjusting local time, home time and the alarm independently, styled in the pilot-watch language of the earlier 5524 but pushed into genuinely new territory for the manufacture. Despite the complexity, the case stays a compact 11.6mm thick, worn on a black leather strap with a platinum pin and tang buckle.

The ebony black sunburst dial displays local time centrally through cathedral hands while a skeletonized hand tracks home time on a second plane, with day and night indicators for both zones and the alarm time shown digitally in a double aperture beneath twelve o’clock.

Inside runs the caliber AL 30-660 S C FUS, an entirely new self-winding movement of 574 components and 52 jewels, delivering between 42 and 52 hours of power reserve and carrying the Patek Philippe Seal, with a hammer visible through the sapphire display back striking a gong for up to 40 seconds when the alarm sounds.
