Patek Philippe Nautilus Perpetual Calendar Ref. 5740/1G-001, 18k White Gold, 2018, Excellent Condition
For many years the Nautilus was a watch without great complications. That changed in 2018, when Patek Philippe presented the 5740/1G, the first Nautilus with a perpetual calendar. It brought together two things Patek is famous for: the iconic sports watch design by Gérald Genta and one of the most respected complications in watchmaking. This example dates from 2018, the year the reference was introduced.
The 40 mm case is made of 18 karat white gold and is remarkably thin for a perpetual calendar. Thanks to the slim movement, the watch sits flat on the wrist and wears as comfortably as a regular Nautilus. The octagonal bezel, the characteristic side "ears" and the integrated white gold bracelet with its Nautilus folding clasp give it that unmistakable silhouette.
The blue dial with its horizontal embossing darkens toward the edge, which gives it beautiful depth. The calendar displays are arranged in three subdials, the day and a 24-hour indicator at 9 o'clock, the month and leap year cycle at 3 o'clock, and the date together with the moon phase at 6 o'clock.
Inside works the classic Patek Philippe caliber 240 Q, an ultra-thin self-winding movement with a micro-rotor in 22 karat gold. Because the rotor sits within the movement, the watch stays extremely flat. The perpetual calendar knows the different lengths of the months and the leap years, and will not need a correction until 2100. Through the sapphire caseback you can admire the finely finished movement.
The watch is in excellent condition and comes as a full set with box and papers, leather paper holder, describtion booklet, setting pin.
"A Nautilus with one of the finest complications Patek makes, from the very first year of production!"
