PATEK PHILIPPE Multi-Scale Chronograph, "175th Anniversary" Ref. 5975G-001, 18k White Gold, Folding Clasp, Box and Papers, Year 2015, Excellent, Full Set

Released in 2014 to mark 175 years of Patek Philippe, the 5975 broke from convention as the manufacture's first self-winding chronograph without registers or subsidiary seconds, replacing them with three functional scales instead, and it remains one of the most distinctive commemorative pieces the brand has ever produced.

The 40mm case is 18k white gold with sculpted multi-stepped lugs, an angled bezel and a solid snap-down case back engraved "Patek Philippe Genève - 175th Anniversaire - 1839-2014," worn on a black alligator strap secured by a white gold Calatrava Cross deployant clasp similarly engraved with the anniversary dates.

The silvery opaline dial forgoes traditional subdials entirely, instead combining a telemeter scale for calculating distance, a pulsometer calibrated to 15 pulsations for measuring heart rate, and a tachymeter for speed, all read directly off the single center-sweep chronograph hand.

Inside runs a specially reworked version of the caliber CH 28-520, Patek's own automatic column-wheel chronograph with a vertical clutch, tuned for this reference with improved accuracy and delivering 55 hours of power reserve.

Limited to just 400 pieces in white gold, part of a wider 175th Anniversary series also produced in yellow gold, rose gold and a scarcer 100-piece platinum run.
