Our remarks

OMEGA SEAMASTER 600 “PLOPROF” – REF. 166.077- STAINLESS STEEL – MARK I TRITIUM DIAL – EXTRACT OF THE ARCHIVES

We are proud to present an excellent and historically significant example of the legendary OMEGA Seamaster 600 “PloProf”, reference 166.077, crafted in stainless steel and offered here on its robust Omega stainless steel mesh (Milanaise) bracelet.

Produced in 1972, this particular piece is accompanied by an official Extract from the Archives (now you wont’t get it anymore!), confirming its authenticity and production date—an essential document for any serious collector.

Developed in close collaboration with professional divers in the early 1970s, the PloProf (short for Plongeur Professionnel) was engineered to meet the most demanding underwater conditions. Notably, it was famously worn by the legendary oceanographer and filmmaker Jacques Cousteau during his pioneering expeditions. Early prototypes of the Seamaster 600 were even tested by COMEX, the elite French commercial diving company, marking this model as a true tool watch of the deep.

The solid monobloc steel case is fitted with a locking uni-directional bezel, which can only be engaged via the signature red push-button, an innovative safety mechanism designed to withstand extreme depths. Its form follows function, resulting in an unmistakable and iconic 1970s design that remains a cult favorite among vintage collectors.

This example features the desirable and flawless Mark I blue Tritium dial, complete with matching hands and bezel insert—all of which remain in fantastic original condition, showing a rich, even patina that underscores the watch’s authenticity and charm.

A really rare and important vintage Omega diving instrument, offering unmatched provenance, technical innovation, and period-correct design.

"A true collector’s piece and what a fantastic brutalistic design!"
