Cartier Ceinture Jumbo Automatic Ref. 17001 – Paris Dial – 18k Yellow Gold – 18k Gold Folding Clasp – Box — 1979 – Rare Find

We are proud to present this excellent rare Cartier Ceinture Jumbo Automatic, reference 17001, one of the most distinctive and elusive creations from Cartier’s celebrated design renaissance of the 1970s.

Originally conceived in 1927 and reintroduced during the golden era of Cartier design in the 1970s, the Ceinture remains one of the maison’s most overlooked collector's pieces. Named after the French word for “belt,” the model derives its identity from its unique geometric case, inspired by the shape of an elegant belt buckle—a design unlike anything else produced by Cartier before or since.

This particular Jumbo example represents the largest and most desirable execution of the Ceinture. Manufactured entirely in solid 18k yellow gold, the case combines sharp architectural lines with the timeless elegance for which Cartier is renowned. Produced in relatively limited numbers, the Jumbo variant is significantly rarer than its smaller counterparts and has become increasingly sought after among collectors of vintage Cartier.

The watch features a flawless and highly coveted white "Paris" dial, a detail reserved for watches retailed through Cartier Paris and regarded by collectors as one of the most desirable signatures found on vintage Cartier timepieces. The classic Roman numerals, chemin de fer minute track and blued steel hands create the unmistakable aesthetic that has defined Cartier design for generations.

Powering the watch is the automatic Cartier calibre 2670, housed within the characteristic Ceinture case featuring its distinctive recessed crown design.
