We are delighted to offer this exceptional AUDEMARS PIGUET Royal Oak Ref. 5402 A-Series, preserved in very good to excellent condition. As one of the earliest Royal Oaks ever produced, this watch represents a landmark in the history of modern watchmaking and an outstanding opportunity for the discerning collector.
The original AP-signed Petite Tapisserie dial remains in outstanding condition. During its most recent Audemars Piguet service, fresh luminous material was professionally applied to both the hands and the hour markers, ensuring optimal legibility while maintaining the integrity of the original dial. Fitted with its stainless steel bracelet and complemented by a later Audemars Piguet folding clasp for enhanced everyday wearability.
Recently serviced by Audemars Piguet licenced watch-maker, the watch is in excellent mechanical condition and performs as it should. Accompanied by an Extract from the Audemars Piguet Archives, confirming the watch's authenticity and its historical significance within the Royal Oak lineage.
Introduced in 1972 and delivered as part of the A-Series, the Ref. 5402 belongs to the very first production series of the Royal Oak, the model that forever changed the landscape of luxury watchmaking. Conceived by the legendary designer Gerald Genta, the Royal Oak pioneered the concept of the luxury stainless steel sports watch, combining bold aesthetics with exceptional finishing in a way that had never been seen before.
More than five decades later, the Royal Oak remains the cornerstone of Audemars Piguet's identity and one of the most celebrated watch designs ever created. Early A-Series examples such as this are increasingly sought after for their historical importance, rarity, and direct connection to the origins of one of horology's greatest icons.
