AUDEMARS PIGUET Royal Oak 41, Reference 15400ST, Blue-White Prototype Dial, Stainless Steel, Year 2013, Probably Piece Unique!
The 15400ST is one of the most recognizable modern Royal Oaks ever produced, but this example steps entirely outside standard catalogue territory, fitted with a blue-white dial variation believed to be a genuine prototype execution never released into regular production.
Prototype dials occupy a strange, highly desirable corner of collecting. Manufactures produce them internally to test color combinations, tapisserie finishes or printing techniques before a reference goes to market, and the overwhelming majority are either destroyed, archived, or never leave the workshop at all. On the rare occasion one does surface on a finished watch, it typically represents a configuration of one, or at most a handful, of known examples, making it fundamentally different from even the rarest limited editions, which are still produced to a fixed, catalogued number. A prototype dial was never meant to be sold at all, and its existence outside the manufacture is usually down to a single unrecorded exception rather than deliberate release.
The 41mm stainless steel case keeps every proportion of the standard 15400ST, the octagonal bezel, eight hexagonal screws and integrated bracelet, meaning the rarity here begins and ends with the dial itself rather than the case architecture.
Inside runs the caliber 3120, Audemars Piguet's own automatic movement with 40 jewels and roughly 60 hours of power reserve, identical to the movement fitted across the standard production run.
This example is offered as in:
- very good condtion
- Prototype dial with majorly blue and outer white dial condfiguaration - probably a piece unique
- Connaisseurs piece!
„The legendeary Royal Oak wearing a dial AP never meant to sell, the kind of rarity no limited edition number can match."
