We are pleased to offer this Rolex Daytona Cosmograph „APH", Ref. 116520, in stainless steel with a classic stainless steel Oyster bracelet in more than excellent condition.
This reference has been discontinued, elevating it to true collector status—especially due to its rare and highly coveted “APH dial.”
This watch is fitted with the white “APH” dial, a subtle yet distinctive variation found only on select later examples of the reference 116520. The nickname derives from the unique spacing in the word “COSMOGRAPH,” where a noticeable gap appears between “COSMOGR” and “APH.”
This detail resulted from a production change at Rolex’s in-house dial manufacturing facility between approximately 2011 and 2015. As a transitional dial, it represents a short-lived chapter in Rolex production, significantly enhancing its appeal and desirability among seasoned collectors.
The Cosmograph Daytona is Rolex’s legendary chronograph, originally developed for professional racing drivers. It features a tachymeter scale on the bezel for measuring average speed, paired with the robust in-house Calibre 4130 automatic movement—celebrated for its exceptional reliability, efficiency, and precision.
