Our remarks

A. LANGE & SÖHNE DATOGRAPH – Ref. 403.035 – 950 Platinum – Box & Papers – 2005 – Service – Excellent Condition

We are proud to present this outstanding A. Lange & Söhne Datograph Ref. 403.035 in noble 950 platinum — a landmark reference that has come to define modern high horology.

The Datograph is widely regarded as one of the greatest chronographs ever made, celebrated for its architectural movement, flawless hand-finishing, and perfectly balanced dial design. This early platinum reference captures the model in its most classical and collectible form.

The striking black dial is beautifully executed, featuring luminous hands and markers, perfectly symmetrical chronograph counters, and Lange’s signature outsized date at 12 o’clock. The result is a dial that is both bold and refined, unmistakably German in its clarity and precision.

Powering this masterpiece is the famed manual-wind Caliber L951.1 — a movement that has achieved near-mythical status among collectors. Comprising 405 components, it features a column-wheel mechanism, jumping minute counter, flyback function, and a 36-hour power reserve. Visible through the sapphire caseback, it reveals the full artistry of Lange: German silver plates, hand-engraved balance cock, gold chatons, and flawless anglage throughout.

Crafted in solid 950 platinum, the 39mm case is substantial yet elegant, balancing presence with perfect proportions. This piece has been serviced and is offered in excellent mechanical and aesthetic condition.

Originally sold in 2005, this example comes complete with:

- Original A. Lange & Söhne presentation box

- Warranty papers & booklet set (2005)

- Service documentation, Lange Service 2021

- Presented in excellent, collector-grade condition

A benchmark of haute horlogerie and one of the most desirable chronographs of the modern era.

“The Datograph remains a defining achievement in contemporary watchmaking — technical, sculptural, and unmistakably Lange.”

Comes with a one year warranty through our watch lab.
