F.P. Journe Octa Calendrier – Ruthenium Dial – 38mm – Platinum 950 – Limited Edition of 99 – Papers – 2004 – Full Service 2025 – Mint
We are proud to offer this exceptionally rare and historically significant F.P. Journe Octa Calendrier in platinum with greencrocodile strap and 950 platinum pin buckle.
This model featuring the coveted Ruthenium dial — part of a strictly limited series of just 99 pieces, produced in the early 2000s for Journe’s most dedicated collectors.
Housed in a 38mm 950 platinum case, this Octa Calendrier belongs to the Ruthenium Collection, a legendary group of watches featuring solid gold movements finished in a dark ruthenium coating, paired with ruthenium-toned dials. This series marked one of the final uses of brass-based movements before Journe transitioned to his signature 18k rose gold caliber architecture — making these early references both mechanically and historically significant.
Originally delivered in 2004, this piece is accompanied by its original guarantee papers and has just returned from a full F.P. Journe factory service in 2025, ensuring flawless mechanical condition and preserving its long-term collectability.
Key features include:
- Original F.P. Journe guarantee papers – dated 2004
- F.P. Journe factory service papers – completed 2025
- 38mm platinum case – in superb, unpolished condition
- Automatic Octa movement with big date, annual calendar, and off-center hours
- Ruthenium-coated brass movement with 120-hour power reserve.
The case remains crisp and full, with sharp lugs and a clean bezel. The dial is untouched, with the characteristic grey ruthenium finish showing incredible depth and complexity depending on the light — a visual hallmark of the Ruthenium series. The movement, a ruthenium-coated version of Journe’s early brass caliber, is visible through the sapphire caseback and offers a glimpse into the brand’s formative era.
The Octa Calendrier was the first annual calendar wristwatch with an automatically adjusting large date, and this early execution with the brass movement and ruthenium treatment is among the rarest and most desirable forms it ever took. As collectors continue to re-evaluate Journe’s early production, the Ruthenium series stands at the intersection of technical innovation, experimental aesthetics, and extreme scarcity.
A remarkable opportunity to acquire one of F.P. Journe’s rarest production references, with full documentation, recent service, and pristine condition — a true centerpiece for any independent watch collection.
“We love the Ruthenium Octa Calendrier for its mechanical ingenuity, transitional importance, and hauntingly beautiful dial — an important piece from the early years of Journe’s independent vision.”
