VACHERON CONSTANTIN Malte Dual Time Regulator Ref. 42005 18k White Gold Bj-2003 VC Service 2026 Excellent

We are pleased to present a wonderfully complication from one of the oldest watchmaking houses in continuous operation: the Malte Dual Time Regulator, Ref. 42005, executed in 18 carat white gold. 

The regulator dial, a layout originally developed for precision clocks used to set other timepieces, separates the hours into a small subsidiary dial at 12 o'clock while the sweeping central hand indicates the minutes, a configuration prized by collectors for its historical pedigree and visual clarity. Here, Vacheron Constantin combines this traditional display with a genuinely practical modern function, a second time zone shown on a 24 hour subsidiary dial, alongside a further subsidiary dial combining running seconds and the date. The silvered matte dial, with its black Roman numerals and applied square markers, presents this dense arrangement of information with remarkable poise, finished with white gold sword hands throughout.

The 38.5mm case, signed with Vacheron Constantin's distinctive flared Malte lugs, features a push button in the case band at 10 o'clock allowing the wearer to independently advance the second time zone hand, alongside a hinged half hunter style case back, an elegant nod to pocket watch tradition, which opens to reveal a sapphire crystal exhibition window secured by six screws.

At the heart of the watch beats the automatic Calibre 1206, a 31 jewel movement fitted with an 18 carat gold rotor, rhodium plated and finished with fausses côtes decoration, a straight line lever escapement, and a monometallic balance adjusted to five positions. The movement carries the prestigious Hallmark of Geneva, the Poinçon de Genève, guaranteeing a level of finishing and construction that meets some of the strictest standards in Swiss watchmaking, and delivers a generous 65 hour power reserve.

Completing the watch is its black alligator leather strap with an 18 carat white gold tang buckle, engraved with the Vacheron Constantin Maltese cross.
