Tudor Oysterdate Chronograph Monte Carlo Homeplate Ref. 7031/0 – Stainless Steel – Grey Tritium Dial – Folded Bracelet – 1971 – Rare
We are pleased to present this highly collectible Tudor Oysterdate Chronograph “Monte Carlo Homeplate” Ref. 7031/0, one of the most charismatic and historically significant vintage chronographs from Tudor.
Crafted in stainless steel and dating to 1971, this remarkable example is offered in very good vintage condition. Featuring its distinctive grey tritium dial and fitted with a period-correct folded bracelet, it represents a rare opportunity to acquire one of Tudor’s most celebrated collector references.
The 40 mm stainless steel case retains the robust and functional design language typical of Tudor’s early chronographs, with strong lines, pump pushers, and a Bakelite tachymeter bezel that reinforces its sporty character. The proportions and presence on the wrist remain timeless, appealing equally to vintage enthusiasts and modern collectors.
The standout feature of this reference is its iconic “Homeplate” dial, named after the unique pentagonal hour markers reminiscent of a baseball home plate. Executed in a rich grey tone, the dial is enhanced by contrasting chronograph registers and warm tritium lume and so are the Tritum hands, which has aged gracefully over time. The result is a dial full of depth, character, and unmistakable vintage charm.
At its heart beats a reliable manual-wind chronograph movement, based on the robust Valjoux architecture, known for its durability and serviceability. This movement underscores Tudor’s historical approach of combining proven mechanics with bold and innovative design.
The watch is fitted with a folded stainless steel bracelet, consistent with the period, adding further authenticity and comfort while preserving the watch’s original character.
