Some watches are built to blend in, this one is built to do the exact opposite. The Yacht-Master 40 Rainbow is Rolex at its most unapologetic, a sports watch turned into a genuine jewelry piece without losing any of its technical substance.

The 40mm case is crafted in Rolex's own Everose gold, the alloy the brand developed to keep its rose tone from fading over time. Around it sits the bezel that gives this watch its nickname, set with a gradient of multi colored sapphires and finished with a single diamond, arranged so the color runs smoothly around the case rather than jumping between shades.

The dial follows the same idea, fully diamond pavé set and reflecting light from every angle, while the date sits quietly at three o'clock as a reminder that this is still, underneath all the stones, a real tool watch. That contrast is exactly what makes the Rainbow such a sought after piece.

Instead of a conventional metal bracelet, this Yacht-Master runs on Rolex's Oysterflex, a flexible strap built around a metal blade core and finished in black elastomer, secured with an 18k rose gold Oysterlock folding clasp. It keeps the watch comfortable on the wrist despite the weight of the gold case and gives the whole piece a sportier feel than a solid bracelet ever could.

Inside works the automatic caliber 3135, Rolex's long serving workhorse movement with a 48 hour power reserve and full chronometer certification, so the glamour never comes at the cost of reliability.

This example is in excellent condition, complete with its original box and papers, though no service history is documented so far.
