We are pleased to present this highly attractive Rolex Submariner Ref. 5513, a celebrated vintage dive watch that represents one of the longest-produced and most iconic models in the history of Rolex.
Manufactured in 1987, this particular example belongs to the desirable transitional period, featuring the sought-after beautiful glossy dial with tritium luminous material, marking the shift from earlier matte dials to the later high-gloss variants. The watch is offered in excellent vintage condition and has just been professionally serviced, ensuring reliable performance for years to come.
The classic 40 mm stainless steel Oyster case perfectly captures the robust tool-watch character that made the Submariner famous worldwide. With its strong crown guards, unidirectional rotating bezel, and timeless proportions, the reference 5513 remains one of the purest expressions of the Submariner design language. The stainless steel case shows honest preservation and retains the unmistakable presence that has defined the Submariner lineage for decades.
The glossy black dial features applied white gold circeled hour markers filled with tritium, which have developed a warm and attractive vintage patina over time. The iconic Mercedes hands, matching luminous plots, and the clean two-line dial configuration contribute to the model’s unmistakable aesthetic. The combination of glossy finish and tritium lume makes these late-production examples especially appealing to collectors. Only the bezel Titium lume dot has been replaced with a recent one.
Powering the watch is the reliable automatic caliber 1520, a robust in-house movement developed by Rolex and renowned for its durability and precision. Designed to withstand demanding conditions, the movement reflects the Submariner’s origins as a professional diving instrument while remaining perfectly suited for daily wear.
