ROLEX Cosmograph Daytona, Reference 6239, Silver Tritium Dial, "Small Daytona" Signature, Stainless Steel, Year 1966, Full Set

Introduced in 1963, the 6239 firmly shifted Rolex's chronograph line into tool watch territory, and this early example carries the small "Daytona" signature at twelve o'clock, one of the details collectors specifically look for when dating an early production dial.

The 36mm stainless steel case keeps the tonneau silhouette and engraved steel 300 tachymeter bezel typical of the earliest Daytonas, worn with pump pushers rather than the screw-down type that came later, and paired with its period-correct folded Rolex Oyster bracelet dated 3/1967.

The silver dial pairs applied baton hour markers with black recessed subdials, the layout collectors nickname the "reverse panda," carrying the T Swiss T tritium marking typical of the mid-1960s before Rolex's later dial changes.

Inside runs the manual wind caliber 72, 17 jewels, the movement that powered the very first generation of Daytona chronographs before Rolex moved to the later Valjoux-based calibers.
