ROLEX Submariner Date, Reference 16618, 18k Yellow Gold, Black Dial, Oyster Bracelet, Year 1993

We are proud to present a very good example of the Rolex Submariner Date reference 16618, cast entirely in 18k yellow gold with a black dial, from 1993, right in the heart of the reference's classic production years.

The 16618 marked an important turning point for the all-gold Submariner, since it was the first full gold version to run on the caliber 3135, replacing the earlier 16808 and bringing the model in line with Rolex's most respected automatic architecture of the era. It sits as the last of the full gold Submariners still fitted with an aluminum bezel insert, before ceramic took over on later generations, a small but meaningful detail collectors have come to appreciate more with each passing year.

The 40mm Oyster case and matching solid gold bracelet are executed entirely in yellow gold, giving the watch a bold, unmistakable presence while never losing the underlying substance of a genuine dive watch, screw down crown, unidirectional bezel and 300 meters of water resistance all present and correct.

At the center of it all is the black dial, paired with the black aluminum bezel insert (more recent lume dot at 12 o’clock), the combination Rolex has built the Submariner around since the model's introduction in 1953.

Inside beats the Rolex caliber 3135, one of the most enduring automatic movements, chronometer certified and delivering a robust power reserve that has made it a benchmark for the entire industry for decades.
