ROLEX SEA-DWELLER DEEPSEA Ref. 126660 - Black Dial - Papers 2020 - New-Like & Unpolished
A superb and exceptionally well-preserved example of the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller Deepsea Ref. 126660, presented with a black dial, 2020 papers, and in new-like, completely unpolished condition.
This is a serious professional diving instrument that combines one of Rolex's most impressive technical achievements with the unmistakable aesthetics of the Oyster Professional collection. The 44 mm Oystersteel case has been exceptionally preserved, retaining its original factory lines and finishing.
The history of the Sea-Dweller goes back to 1967, when Rolex developed a watch specifically for professional divers undertaking prolonged underwater missions. With the rise of saturation diving, divers could spend extended periods in pressurized underwater habitats. During decompression, helium from the breathing mixture could enter the watch case and create dangerous internal pressure. Rolex's solution was the helium escape valve, patented in 1967, allowing the excess pressure to escape without compromising the watch's water resistance.
In 2008, Rolex took the concept dramatically further with the introduction of the Rolex Deepsea. The Deepsea was designed to withstand pressure at an extraordinary 3,900 metres / 12,800 feet.
The Ref. 126660, introduced in 2018, represents an important generation of the Deepsea. Its 44 mm Oystersteel case, black Cerachrom bezel and professional diving construction give it an unmistakable presence, while the improved bracelet and clasp make this imposing tool watch considerably more comfortable and practical on the wrist.
