ROLEX Cosmograph Daytona "Panda", Reference 126500LN, Stainless Steel, White Dial, Box and Papers, Year 2024, Full Set, Excellent

The steel Daytona has been the entry point into serious chronograph collecting for a generation of buyers, and the white dial version, nicknamed the Panda for its contrasting black subdials, remains the most requested configuration in the whole current lineup.

The 40mm Oystersteel case is built as a single monobloc middle section, wrapped by a monobloc Cerachrom bezel in black ceramic, its tachymeter scale filled with platinum via PVD for a scratch resistant finish that stays sharp far longer than a traditional aluminum insert. Triplock screw down crown and pushers, together with the fluted screwed case back, keep the watch true to its motorsport origins even as the finishing has grown increasingly refined over the decades.

The white lacquered dial pairs crisp black subdial rings with 18k white gold hour markers filled with Chromalight, and the red "Daytona" script sits above the six o'clock counter exactly where it has since the model's earliest references. It is a look Rolex has barely altered in decades, because there has simply been no reason to.

Inside runs the caliber 4131, the most recent update to Rolex's in-house chronograph architecture, built around the brand's efficient Chronergy escapement and delivering 72 hours of power reserve, well beyond what the outgoing 4130 offered. Every example carries Rolex's Superlative Chronometer certification, guaranteeing accuracy within two seconds a day.
