Rolex Day-Date 36 Ref. 118209, 18k White Gold, Silver Stick Dial, Oyster Bracelet, 2002, Germany LC100

When Rolex introduced the Day-Date in 1956, it was the first wristwatch to show both the date and the day of the week spelled out in full. It was only ever made in gold or platinum, and over the decades it became known as the "President", the watch of heads of state, business leaders and people who had nothing left to prove. In white gold, the Day-Date is especially discreet. At first glance it could almost pass for steel, and only those who know will recognize what it really is.

This 36 mm Oyster case is made of 18 karat white gold. It is closed with a screw-down crown and water resistant to 100 meters. The smooth, rounded bezel gives the watch a soft and very elegant profile.

The silver dial with applied stick markers is the most classic and timeless Day-Date dial there is. It is clean, calm and easy to read. At 12 o'clock the day of the week appears in full in an arched window, and at 3 o'clock the Cyclops lens magnifies the date. It is the layout that has defined the Day-Date for almost seventy years.

Inside works the Rolex caliber 3155, a self-winding chronometer movement with instant day and date change. At midnight, both displays jump in a fraction of a second.

The watch sits on a white gold Oyster bracelet. Most Day-Dates were delivered on the President bracelet, so the sportier Oyster bracelet gives this watch a more relaxed, everyday character.

The watch dates from 2002 and was delivered for the EU market. The LC100 code confirms that it was sold in Germany. It is in excellent condition and comes with box and papers, leather card holder, plastic bezel protector, calendar card describtion booklet, beige Rolex handkerchief, full links.
