ROLEX Vintage DATEJUST Buckley Dial Reference 1603

We can offer you this very good to excellent Rolex Datejust in stainless steel on its folded stainless steel Jubilee bracelet with a folding clasp.

Built in 1977 this 36mm Datejust features a wunderfull and quite rare blue dial with roman numerals, a so called Buckely Dial, named after a New York based vintage watch dealer John Buckley.

The story behind the nickname is a bit funny as in the 2000s, pop star John Mayer gained a reputation in a Vintage Rolex Forum as an buyer and lover of rare vintage Rolexes. The legend says, he was obsessed with buying Datejusts with printed dials so one moderator of the forum wanted to name the dial after Mr Mayer. But another moderator, John Buckley, didn`t aggree and, more as a joke then being serious, he proposed to call the dial Buckley dial instead. And the name stuck ever since. But don`t worry, as we all know, Mr Mayer still got his own nicknamed watch, the green dial yellow gold Daytona.

Under the blue dial ticks the Chronometer certified caliber 1575 with a power reserve of 48 hours.

Easy to wear and not often seen Datejust for ladies as well as gentleman.
