The Datejust is the watch that defines Rolex for many people. When it appeared in 1945, it was the first self-winding wristwatch with a date that changed automatically in a window on the dial. Almost eighty years later, it is still one of the most versatile watches you can wear. The 116234 combines the classic 36 mm size with a fluted white gold bezel, and with its metallic rose dial it adds a fresh, personal touch.

The Oyster case is made of Oystersteel and water resistant to 100 meters. The fluted bezel is made of 18 karat white gold. Rolex uses precious metal for its fluted bezels because the fine facets can be polished to a much brighter shine than steel, and you can see that in the way it catches the light. Together, steel and white gold form what Rolex calls Rolesor.

The light rose dial is what makes this Datejust stand out. It is soft and elegant, and its color changes subtly with the light, from a delicate lilac in daylight to a cooler tone in the shade. The applied white gold markers and hands make the dial easy to read, and the Cyclops lens magnifies the date at 3 o'clock, as it has on every Datejust for decades.

Inside works the Rolex caliber 3135, a self-winding movement that is regarded as one of the most reliable Rolex has ever built.

It just returned from Service Rolex in September 2026 and comes as a full set with box, papers, two hang tags, leather card holder and the service card.
