Launched in 1981 as the midsize successor to the original Ref. 3700, the 3800 maintained the same elegant proportions and porthole-inspired case design, while offering a more wearable 37.5mm case size. This particular example is distinguished by its factory-set blue Sigma dial with applied diamond hour markers — a dial variation that underscores the blend of sportiness and quiet opulence that defines the Nautilus line.

The deep blue dial, signed with the “σ SWISS σ” hallmark at 6 o’clock, confirms the use of solid gold markers and hands — a detail collectors increasingly value.
