PATEK PHILIPPE Vintage Gondolo Curvex for Tiffany & Co., 18k Yellow Gold, Year 1911, Archive Extract, Very Rare
Long before Patek Philippe became a household name worldwide, its partnership with Tiffany & Co. was already producing some of the most historically significant pieces the manufacture ever built, and this Gondolo Curvex is a genuine artifact from that early chapter, manufactured in 1911 and sold through Tiffany & Co. in Switzerland in 1925.
The case is 18k yellow gold in Patek's distinctive Curvex rectangular shape (26x38), sized generously for its era, with the gently curved profile that gives the model its name and lets it sit comfortably against the wrist despite its rectangular silhouette. Decades later, this same case language would go on to visibly inspire Franck Muller's Long Island collection, a detail collectors of both brands often point to when discussing the Curvex's lasting influence on watch design.
The dial carries the Tiffany & Co. signature flared Arabic "explosion" numerals, a distinctive numeral style closely associated with the brand's early 20th century dress watches. The original radium hands have left a faint, natural shadow on the dial surface over the past century, the kind of honest patina that confirms untouched originality rather than detracting from it.
The watch comes with an extract from the Patek Philippe archives, confirming both its 1911 manufacturing date and its 1925 sale through Tiffany & Co., a rare piece of documented provenance for a watch well over a century old.
