Unsere Anmerkungen

Cartier Vendôme Automatic Ref. 1700, 18k White Gold, 1977, Paris Dial, Very Rare

In the 1970s Cartier looked back at its own history and created the Louis Cartier collection, a series of watches based on the maison's classic designs. The Vendôme is one of its most elegant pieces. It takes its name from the Place Vendôme in Paris, home of Cartier's historic boutique, and it reflects the calm symmetry of that famous square. Most Vendômes were made in yellow gold. In white gold, they are rarely found today.

The 33 mm case is made of 18 karat white gold. Its design is recognizable at first glance: a round case with a stepped bezel and straight, vertical lugs that frame the watch like the columns of a Parisian façade. The crown is set with a sapphire cabochon, the signature detail of every Cartier watch. White gold gives the whole design a cool, understated elegance that feels very modern for a watch from 1977.

The hard white dial carries Cartier's classic Roman numerals and sword-shaped hands. It is a dial that needs no decoration, because the proportions do all the work. The dial is also a „Paris“ signed one, showing the production from the 1970s.

Inside works a self-winding movement, which was quite unusual for Cartier's dress watches of this period and adds to the appeal for collectors.

This Vendome case is paired with an 18k white gold Cartier folding clasp and black aligator leather strap.

The watch dates from 1977 and is in excellent condition. It comes with its box.

"A hard to find vintage Cartier model in white gold, and a true collectors piece for anyone who appreciates quiet elegance!"

Comes with a one-year warranty through our watch lab.
