Cartier Tank Louis Cartier Large Model Ref. 7808, 18k Yellow Gold, White Roman Dial, 1990, Cartier Service 2026

Some watches never need to change, and the Tank Louis Cartier is the best proof of that. Louis Cartier designed the Tank in 1917, inspired by the shape of the tanks he had seen on the Western Front. In 1922 he refined it into the Tank Louis Cartier, with softer lines and elongated brancards, the rails that frame the dial and run into the strap. More than a hundred years later, it is still one of the most elegant watches ever made.

The rectangular case is made of 18 karat yellow gold. The long, rounded brancards give the watch its famous silhouette, and the octagonal crown is set with a sapphire cabochon, the signature of every Cartier watch. The large model has the proportions of the classic men’s Tank and sits flat and comfortably on the wrist.

The bright white dial carries the black Roman numerals, the railway track minute ring and the blued sword-shaped hands that define the Tank. It is an original Cartier service dial, fitted by Cartier during a service, so it looks fresh and crisp while remaining entirely authentic Cartier.

Inside works a mechanical Cartier movement caliber 78-1.

It is worn on a black alligator strap with a gold-plated Cartier pin buckle.

The watch dates from 1990 and is in excellent condition. It was serviced by Cartier in 2026 and comes with the service papers.
