CARTIER Santos de Cartier, Reference WSSA0037, Large Model, Stainless Steel, Black ADLC Bezel, Box and Papers, Year 2022, Like-New, Full Set

Created in 1904 for the aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont, the Santos holds a genuine claim as one of the first purpose-built wristwatches ever made, and this large model modernizes that pioneering square case with a sleek black bezel treatment.

The 39.8 x 47.5mm steel case carries a black ADLC-coated bezel and a steel crown set with a faceted black synthetic spinel, the exposed screws along the bezel a direct nod to the original 1904 design, with an exhibition sapphire case back and a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.

The grey sunray dial pairs Cartier's signature Roman numerals and railroad minute track with steel sword-shaped hands filled with luminescent material, and a date window sits discreetly at six o’clock.

The watch includes both its stainless steel bracelet with SmartLink adjustment and a second black rubber strap, both fitted with Cartier's QuickSwitch interchangeable system for tool-free swapping between the two.

Inside runs the caliber 1847 MC, Cartier's own in-house automatic movement with 35 jewels, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and delivering roughly 42 hours of power reserve.
