Few case shapes are as instantly recognizable as the Royal Oak's octagonal bezel, and the 15400 carries that Gerald Genta design forward into its most enduringly popular modern configuration, steel case, black dial, no unnecessary complications getting in the way of the shape itself.

The 41mm stainless steel case keeps the signature octagonal bezel secured by eight hexagonal screws, a detail unchanged since the model's 1972 debut, paired with the integrated bracelet and AP folding clasp that make the whole watch read as a single continuous piece rather than a case with a strap attached.

The black dial carries the brand's Grande Tapisserie waffle pattern, catching light differently depending on the angle, with white gold applied hour markers and the model's signature Royal Oak hands filled with luminescent coating. A date window sits cleanly at three o'clock, and a sweep centre seconds hand rounds out the display without disturbing the dial's tapisserie texture.

Inside runs the caliber 3120, Audemars Piguet's own automatic movement with 40 jewels and roughly 60 hours of power reserve, visible through the sapphire display back that shows off the finishing behind the case's industrial exterior.
