PATEK PHILIPPE NAUTILUS "JUMBO" REF. 3700/1 - Mark 1- – 18K Yellow Gold – Black Sigma Tritium Dial – 42mm – Box & Papers – 1982 Germany – Excellent Condition – Full Set
We are proud to present this iconic and highly collectible Patek Philippe Nautilus "Jumbo", reference 3700/1, in solid 18k yellow gold — a rare and historically significant early Nautilus with original box and papers, sold in Germany in 1982.
Designed by the legendary Gérald Genta and introduced in 1976, the reference 3700/1 (thick bracelet) is the original Nautilus — a groundbreaking luxury sports watch that redefined modern watchmaking. This example, housed in a 42mm yellow gold monobloc case, exemplifies the unmistakable porthole-inspired design with integrated bracelet and slim profile, measuring just 7.6mm thick.
The watch features a stunning guillochee black "sigma" dial with tritium hour markers and hands, indicating the use of precious metal markers — a subtle but important detail for collectors. The luminous material is in perfect original condition!
Powering the 3700/1 is the ultra-thin Caliber 28-255 C, based on the renowned Jaeger-LeCoultre 920 ébauche — considered one of the finest automatic movements ever made. The movement remains in excellent working order and is protected by the solid yellow gold case back.
This timepiece is offered as a complete full set, including:
- Original Patek Philippe wooden box
- Original Certificate of Origin (Germany, 1982)
- Original orange plastic paper holder
- Patek possesion letter - original
The condition is excellent, showing well-preserved case lines, original finish, and a tight bracelet with minimal stretch — quite rare for a gold 3700 of this vintage.
"An exceptional opportunity to acquire one of the most important references in modern horology — the original Nautilus "Jumbo" in solid gold, complete with box and papers. A grail-worthy piece for the serious collector!"
Comes with a one year warranty through our watch lab.
