PATEK PHILIPPE – GRANDE CALATRAVA – Reference 570 – 18k Yellow Gold – Iconic Vintage Dress Watch with Original Silver Dial - Manufactured in 1958
We are delighted to present this excellent vintage Patek Philippe Grande Calatrava, Ref. 570, crafted in 18k yellow gold and paired with a rich brown crocodile leather strap, embodying timeless elegance and Swiss watchmaking at its finest.
The quite rare reference 570 is celebrated as the "Grande Calatrava", featuring a generously sized 35mm case, significantly larger than its smaller Calatrava siblings of the era. Its bold presence on the wrist makes it one of the most sought-after vintage dress models in the Patek Philippe lineage.
The case is constructed in solid 18k yellow gold, retaining its classic proportions and beautifully sculpted lugs. Its understated yet refined lines exemplify the minimalist Bauhaus-inspired design for which the Calatrava is revered.
This example features an original silver dial, untouched with some minor discolorations. It has got edged baton hour markers and dauphine hands. The "Patek Philippe Genève" signature is correctly raised, a subtle yet important detail confirming authenticity and originality. The dial presents with soft aging, consistent with the watch’s age, enhancing its vintage character.
This timepiece is accompanied by a Patek Philippe presentation box, adding to its collectability and charm as a complete vintage set.
The significance of the Ref. 570 is underscored by its influence on modern Patek Philippe design, most notably as the inspiration for the Calatrava Ref. 5196, released decades later. However, the original 570 remains unmatched in vintage appeal and historical importance.
“An icon of understated elegance — from the golden age of Swiss watchmaking.”
