A minute repeater is the complication watchmakers themselves tend to hold in the highest regard, since it asks a movement to do something far harder than simply display the time, chime it out loud, on demand, in hours, quarters and minutes. Blancpain's Villeret line carries this complication with real restraint, and this reference is a fine example of that approach.

The case is 18k rose gold at a compact 38mm, sized closer to the classic dress watches Blancpain is known for than to the oversized cases so much of the market gravitates toward today. Roman numerals keep the dial in line with the Villeret collection's traditional, understated language, letting the movement underneath do the talking rather than the dial itself.
